108 SPIRITUAL BONE AND BODHI MALA FOR IMPERMANENCE :

An original NamasteYOGAstore design from 1999, After receiving such strong positive reactions to our Bone and Skull Impermanence Mala we decided to create a bone and bodhi seed version. Made in Our Studio, it features 108 hand-carved water buffalo bone beads, a bone guru bead, and 3 authentic dark bodhi beads.
Each bead is hand-carved individually. The bone in Buddhism is often recognized as a symbol of impermanence.
The mala beads are outsourced from Nepal and personally hand-strung by me.

MEANING OF THE MALA :
Bone is a traditional material used in malas in both Nepal and Tibet. Bone represents the earth and our connection to it. Bone is also said to signify strength and to amplify prana (life force energy.)This mala serves as a powerful reminder to be here now and to live in the present moment; because nothing is permanent.

Skulls traditionally represent Transition, the Impermanence of Life, and the Limits of Human Knowledge and Bodily Power. As a symbol, it communicates that Death is a part of the Natural Law and Passage of Time. Skull beads and symbols help remind us to reflect upon the Inevitability of Death and the necessity of embracing lives filled with love and compassion.

Bodhi Seed beads can be used for counting all types of mantras as well as other prayers. "Bodhi" in Sanskrit means enlightenment; as an "enlightened" seed, many practitioners use these malas for their essence and inherent teachings within each seed.

In the Himalayas, it is typical for large animals such as yak or water buffalo to be used for service, food, clothing, and ritual items. Given the limited amount of resources and the religious practices of the people in the region, it is important that none of the animals goes to waste. These amazing bone beads are handcrafted by artisans who recycle and reuse everything in daily life and spiritual practice.
