ANTIQUE TIBETAN BUDDHIST TANTRIC RITUAL DAGGER :
The condition of the item is excellent. No damages. Some reasonable oxidation in a few areas, and a couple of tiny flea bites on the blade.
This antique phurba is from the personal collection of a Trantrik Ngakpa Practioner from Arunachal Pradesh, North Eastern India who had been using the item for many years.
ABOUT PHURBA :
Phurba (Kila) three-sided peg, stake, knife, or nail-like ritual implement traditionally associated with Indo-Tibetan Buddhism, Bön, and Indian Vedic traditions.
The phurba or kīla is a three-sided peg, stake, knife, or nail-like ritual implement traditionally associated with Tibetan Buddhism. The Phurba is closely associated with the practice of the meditational deity Vajrakīlaya (Tibetan Dorje Phurba)
SYMBOLISM OFPHURBA DAGGER :
The Phurba blade usually has 3 triangular facets, meeting at the tip. Of these 3 faces, one joyful, one peaceful, one wrathful (vajrakilaya). These represent, respectively, the blade's power to transform the negative energies known as the "three poisons" of desire, delusion, and aversion/fear/hate.
Vajrakilaya (the wrathful face) is embodied in the phurba as a means of destroying violence, hatred, and aggression by tying them to the blade of the phurba and then transmuting them with its tip.
This type of knife is used for a variety of ceremonial activities, such as offering blessings and making offerings to deities.
The Phurba is a three-sided dagger used as a ritual implement to signify stability.
Its ornate design and symbolism make it a powerful and meaningful addition to any spiritual practice. Very useful for starting a new chapter in one's life!
