This one-of-a-kind antique Tibetan singing bowl comes from the personal collection of a Tibetan Buddhist Monk who has been using it for the last 30 years.

Singing bowls are used all over the world for meditation, medication, personal well-being, and relaxation. Singing bowls are played by striking the rim of the bowl with a padded mallet to emphasize the harmonic overtones and a continuous 'singing' sound. These are hand-made by skilled craftsmen using bell metal which is an alloy of several metals

About the Sound Sample

First, you'll hear the bowl struck on its upper outside edge with a Himalayan hardwood Tibetan-wool padded mallet. Next, you'll hear the rim tone played with the leather end of the padded mallet.

Bowl rings at a C note when struck with a woolen mallet. This resonates with the Root Chakra, which is situated at the base of or tail end of the spine. It is the foundation of the physical body; it stimulates vital forces throughout our body and assists in keeping us grounded to the earth.


Bowl Type: "Remuna"

Typically light construction, with a slightly concave aperture and a generous belly. Multiple parallel line patterns are lathed around the exterior wall. Often, dot-line inscriptions will appear approximately half an inch below the rim on the exterior wall. These bowls may have been partially cast as well as forged. Usually, a set of concentric circles orbit out from a small circle in the center of the basin. The lip is usually grooved. Often Remuna style singing bowls also have an inscription on the exterior.
