TIBETAN BUDDHIST LAMA MONK'S ROBE :
Tibet has a large number of Tibetan monks, and most of its people are followers of Tibetan Buddhism. Tibetan monks or lamas play a major role in the lives of the Tibetan people, conducting religious ceremonies and taking care of the monasteries. Tibet has the largest number of monks in the world, with almost 1/3 of the population being monks. Tibetan monks are considered to be the ultimate followers of Tibetan Buddhism. Therefore, the costumes of Tibetan monks are also a significant part of Tibetan culture.
In Tibet, red is the color of the sacred realm. While all shades have their place in temples and monasteries, burgundy belongs to the ordained monks or nuns, of whom there are thousands spread over the whole plateau
This is a complete set of pure cotton Tibetan Buddhist Lama Monk's Robe. This set contains four pieces of garments:
1. YELLOW COLOR COTTON SHIRT / BLOUSE :
It is a sleeveless garment worn by monks. It is yellow in color and made out of pure cotton fabric.
2. BURGUNDY RED SKIRT: The Shamthap
This lower robe is sewn to look like a patched-up cloth, a deterrent from possible attachment to an object of value, such as a piece of quality cloth. In the past, the shamthap was sewn up from many pieces, while today it is merely made to look patched.
The Gelugpa tradition dictates that the shamthap be draped with the fold on the right side, turning towards the back, symbolizing a monk or nun's renunciation of worldly life and negative actions. The folds on the left turn towards the front, meaning their commitment to the Buddhist path and the virtuous activities that will contribute to accumulating merit.
3. MONK ROBE BELT :
This belt is a waist belt that is tied around the waist of monks.
This is what they call the waistband.
This is essential for monks.
This waistband is made according to the Buddhist monks and designed using high-quality fabrics.
This is a yellow stripe.
4. MEDITATION SHAWL/WRAP: The Zen
It can be draped to leave the right shoulder bare, but it can also be fully wrapped. According to Vinaya rules, monks are not to wear sleeves, and the zen, which is made of pure cotton, provides warmth.
