WHITE TIBETAN YAK BONE AND SKULL MALA FOR IMPERMANENCE :
This 108-bead mala is handmade in Our Studio with Yak bone beads, skull bone spacers, and black threads. The mala is hand-strung by myself and I blessed it. Mala measures approximately 36 inches around. Beads are about 10mm. Skull spacers are 12mm.
MEANING OF THE MALA :
Bone beads allow us to reflect upon the Buddhist teachings of impermanence. They serve as a reminder to live in the present moment; because nothing is permanent, everything is possible.
Bone is a traditional material used in malas in both Nepal and Tibet. Bone represents the earth and our connection to it. Bone is also said to signify strength and to amplify prana (life force energy.)
My Buddhist practice revolves around impermanence. We live only in the present moment and it is helpful to remember that nothing lasts. Skulls are featured prominently in Tibetan symbolism and many of our NamasteYOGAstore customers are fond of this reminder that nothing lasts forever.
MEASUREMENT :
Approximate Circumference: 27″
Mala measures approximately 36 inches around.

A NOTE ABOUT BONE BEADS :
In the Himalayas, it is typical for large animals such as yak or water buffalo to be used for service, food, clothing, and ritual items. Given the limited amount of resources and the religious practices of the people in the region, it is important that none of the animals goes to waste. These amazing bone beads are handcrafted by artisans who recycle and reuse everything in daily life and spiritual practice.
MALA BEADS INFORMATION :
Our Bone Mala is individually handcrafted using high-quality natural materials so some slight variations in bead size, color, markings, and shape are expected and reflect the unique and organic beauty of each mala.
All of our mala beads are backed by our 108-day breakage guarantee. Read our Mala Bead Care and Cleaning Guide to learn how to keep your mala looking its best and to avoid premature breakages.
Our prayer beads are purified and blessed before shipping but we do suggest performing an intention-setting ritual before using or wearing them.
It is recommended to store your prayer beads in a mala bag or box.
