YOGI HIMALAYAN YAK WOOL MEDITATION SHAWL :
In the mountains of Ladakh and Tibet, Yak herders can be seen roaming the plains with their herds of Yaks. Their milk is used for tea and Yak cheese, and their warm woolen coat is collected and spun into yarns to produce this warm woolen shawl. This shawl is hand-loomed using ethical yak wool yarns in the Himalayan mountains by a small community of Tribal artisans. This traditional shawl has been worn for centuries in the mountains on the Indo-Tibetan border and in the foothills of the Himalayas.
This Yak Wool Meditation Shawl is handcrafted by traditional artisans of the Kullu Valley in Himachal Pradesh, North India. It is the perfect yoga and meditation blanket. Wrap yourself up in an original, authentic, and super comforting blanket from the Yoga home, made by the ladies of my village in the Indian Himalayas.
Handmade from superfine wool, this shawl will keep you warm and cozy.
MATERIAL OF THE SHAWL: YAK WOOL
The yak has three different coats of wool to sustain it in the severe cold atmosphere of the Himalayas. The down fiber of the yak is considered one of the softest and warmest wools in the world. The artisans create different vibrant colored weft yarn to weave exclusive Himalayan shawls from it.
It is made with Yak wool was obtained from Kargyam village in the Changthang area of Ladakh
WEAVING TECHNIQUE :
This shawl is made by using a traditional loom. The Weaving technique is the tilt process of weaving. In this procedure, the woolen shawls are manually made by winding, drafting, denting, pulling, and adjusting as per the requirement. The geometric decoration of the border of the shawl is woven as basketweave. The artisans use the color graph as the reference for the design that they will weave manually.
THE DESIGN AND PATTERNS OF THE SHAWL:
has been said that the geographic patterns of the Himalayan shawls are hugely influenced by the mystic-spiritual motifs of Buddhists. The weavers get inspiration for the motifs of the shawls from their surroundings, life's philosophy, traditions, and religion.

HOW TO BUY A GENUINE TIBETAN YAK BLANKET?
The growing popularity of the Himalayan shawls attracts many fake dealers who usually cheat and misguide the buyers by selling power loom-made woolen shawls that are impacting the handloom industry as well. To avoid any such forged attempt, you need to know where and how to buy the original Himalayan Shawls.
While shopping for it, keep in mind the following tips:
The shawls that are handmade in the Himalayan valley are expensive because it takes days to complete the process. So, if you get any product under a huge discount or cheap price, don't fall for it. It may be a fake product
The best way to identify the original product is the Geographical Indicator (GI) mark that has been issued by the Government. Though not all manufacturers have obtained it, this mark is still the best way to find out the original shawls made in the Himalayan Valley.
You need to check the design of the shawl closely. If you find out that the reverse side of the shawl looks the same, then the shawl may be handcrafted and genuine.
The handcrafted shawls seem coarse when you touch them to retain the warmth.
The colors used to dye the shawls are organic and non-toxic to the skin whereas acrylic colors are used for machine-made shawls.
