DESIGN :

Tibetan furniture used in homes or temples typically has lavish motifs, which include dragons, snow lions, religious prayers, or eight Buddhist auspicious symbols. The spirituality and wisdom mix in with the marvelous craftsmanship beautifully.

A Tibetan portable polychromed wooden altar stands or table. Pierced and carved folding monks "Puja" table, rectangular top over fretwork apron, front panel with "Kirtimukha" in the center amongst flowering scrolls and clouds, flanked by two dragons on each side. All rising from rocks and waves, End supports carved with a pair of deers centering a Lotus flower.

These carvings of the Tibetans are said to be developed by their masters and are transferred only to the students of this institute through a long training of about 13 years under the guidance of their teacher to transfer the art of this type of carving to. Woodcarving is a practice of folk art that empowers the local people to direct their culture through motifs or abstractions which are usually based on nature, spiritual awareness, or replication of patterns found in native flora and fauna.
